# How to prepare for window installation: what to do before installation day

A few hours of preparation for a faster, cleaner and calmer installation.

Window and door installation is one of those stages that runs faster, cleaner and more calmly with good preparation. Most of it can be done in a few hours, and it helps avoid delays and unnecessary rush on installation day. This article sums up what to do in advance.

## Why does preparation matter?

The installation team works with precise dimensions and a set schedule. If access to the windows is difficult, furniture is in the way or it is unclear what the work includes, installation can take longer and cause inconvenience for you. Proper preparation lets the team work efficiently while you keep your usual routine.

## 1. Before installation: settle the practical details

Agree on the key details before installation day:

### Date and time

Confirm when the team will arrive and how long the work will take.

### Access

Make sure someone is at home on installation day or that the team has access.

### Scope of work

Check what the offer includes: removal of old windows, debris removal, finishing of openings.

### Parking

If possible, leave space near the house to park the vehicle and unload the windows.

This is a good moment to ask every question that matters to you. It is better to clarify everything in advance than on installation day.

## 2. Prepare the rooms

### Clear the space near the windows

Move furniture, decorations, plants and other items away from the windows so the team has enough room to work. Remove curtains, blinds and decorative items from sills and openings.

### Cover furniture and floors

Removal and installation create dust. Cover larger furniture near the windows with plastic sheeting or old sheets. Floors can be covered with cardboard or film to protect them from dirt and accidental damage.

### Remove valuable and fragile items

Picture frames, vases, decorations and other fragile items are better kept somewhere safe, away from the work.

## 3. Think about family members and pets

During installation the old windows are removed and new ones fitted, so a room may have an opening to the outside. If there are small children or pets at home, it is best to keep them in another room or away from the house during the work. It is safer for them and for the team.

## 4. Consider the weather

Installation is possible all year round, but in very cold winter weather an open window opening can quickly cool a room. When planning installation in the cold season, we recommend:

- turning down the heating in rooms where windows are replaced during the work, or wearing warmer clothes
- choosing a milder day where possible
- agreeing the work sequence with the team so each opening stays open as briefly as possible

## 5. After installation: check the work

When the work is finished, check together with the team:

- that windows and doors open, close and seal easily and tightly
- that there is no damage or scratches on the glass and frames
- that there are no visible gaps around the frames
- that the work area has been cleaned up

If something seems wrong, point it out straight away rather than later. It is easier to assess and fix together with the team.

## What we offer after installation

Our work does not end when installation is complete. After the work we carry out a 30-day comfort check and an inspection after 180 days to make sure your windows and doors work as intended.
